PhonePe Users Can Now Link Freecharge Wallet to Make Payments

The users of PhonePe will now be able to link their Freecharge wallet balance and can pay at any of the online and offline merchant outlets which accept payments from PhonePe.

Flipkart owns PhonePe, and previously Freecharge was owner ny Snapdeal, which is now owned by Axis Bank, when Snapdeal was forced to sell their Payments arm during their stress period, when Flipkart was in talks with Softbank, Snapdeal’s primary investor to buy Snapdeal.

Flipkart’s payments arm PhonePe has signed a strategic partnership with Axis Bank-owned mobile wallet FreeCharge that will enable PhonePe users to link their existing FreeCharge Wallets to the PhonePe app.


PhonePe customers can now link their FreeCharge wallet from their ‘Other Wallets’ option in their ‘My Account’ section on the app. The company also has entered into a similar partnership with Reliance Jio’s mobile wallet Jio Money.

Once you link, the PhonePe users will be able to spend from their Freecharge wallet balance at all of the online and offline merchant outlets that accept payments via PhonePe.

The customers from now will be able to choose to use their FreeCharge balance and the PhonePe wallet balance or any other digital money for payments.
